Street Life: Faces Uncovered (2016) (trailer)

Our journey began in 2012...

There are many homeless and poor people we see every day on the streets. They may ask us for money and food, but some will ask just for acknowledgement. Realistically, yet unfortunately, most of them will be ignored… by us. By the more privileged, and seemingly invincible to the problems of hitting the bottom. Yet some of us will help, out of courtesy or pity. Whatever the reason may be, we are still ignorant to the true matters and needs of the people we encounter. We may wonder, but we will never truly know until we find out. It is strongly undeniable that their needs are greater and more extreme than ours. Most of us seek luxury, rather than necessity. And it is extremely painful for some to make distinctions such as “us” or “they”. We are living in the richest economy in the world; an economy in which the poor and the homeless are the most evident proof of inequality, inadequate allocation of resources and social attention.

We want to take a deeper look into their lives and find out what led them to live on the streets and beg. We want to know what they experienced before and after they became homeless. This documentary is about those individuals who truly suffer: their faces, their stories, their lives. It is meant to expose the abandoned roots of our society, where pain is just a small part of the strife. For some of these people, every penny is a step ahead in the race of survival. We want to hear it, see it, and publicize it. We want to inform the public that they can reach out and save lives that are very close to us… lives that honestly need our help.

And lastly, we will provide significant statistics and research that encompass the matters we address. The problem is really quite interesting when you take a deeper dive below the surface.
