Imagine children and young people residents of urban communities at social risk and excluded, being able to share their views from a collective experience, where photography and video become tools of social transformation. That's the objective of Project Eyes of The Street, which will result in a film to give voice, empower and unleash the creative and innovative potential of children and young people suffering from the lack of opportunities in poor urban environments worldwide.
Over a four week period, a group of children living in chronic poverty in Recife, Northeast of Brazil, where 35% of the population lives in poverty, will embark on a journey that will transform their lives. They will tell their stories while learning photography and video.
The images they make will be catalysts for dialogues about their rights, needs, individual and collective resources, dreams, expressing the challenges and problems they experience every day. The pictures and videos made by the children will be part of a film that will document this creative and engaging journey, which aims to directly empower these children, encourage critical thinking, build self-esteem and promote inclusion and social action.
