Introducing mountain biking to Tibet will help Tibetans to build up their own economy, a process well under way. All the hotels, shops and restaurants shown here are owned and run by Tibetans, some even by monks, not for personal profit, of course, but to generate income for the monastery.
The kind of "fun mountain tourism" advocated here is important because in this sector, Tibetans have got a competitive edge over Han and Hui Chinese entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, this kind of tourism does not exist in China. This project does not require massive funding. All the necessary infrastructure exists. It is more a question of spreading the concept with a series of videos and let the Tibetans implement is as they deem suitable.
