PACIFIC NORTHWEST - Converge (DxE October Day of Action)

DxE Event!
Sat, Oct 10, 2015 2pm until Mon, Oct 12, 2015 6pm
Vancouver, BC -

Join us in Vancouver for a weekend of activism and community building. Attend one event or all of them! We will provide housing for out of town guests if given sufficient notice. SCHEDULE: Saturday, October 10th: POTLUCK AND ACTION #1 - Meeting location: 186 E 20th Avenue - 2:00pm - Bring a vegan dish Sunday, October 11th: MEETUP AND ACTION #2 (MAIN ACTION) - Meeting location: 2245 McCarthy Tetrault Lecture Room (SFU Harbour Centre, 555 W Hastings) - Meetup at 10:00am - Action at 12:00pm Monday, October 12th: SANCTUARY WORKDAY - Location will be messaged to attendees - 10:00am - Carpooling will be arranged --- On the second anniversary of the “It’s Not Food, It’s Violence” campaign, DxE chapters around the world will converge to take powerful action for animals. From the DxE Forum (https://goo.gl/vUkZJQ) to the Animal Rights Conference (https://goo.gl/GkkE0Q), some of the most powerful demonstrations in DxE’s history have happened when activists came together and took collective action. Large, powerful protests unite us, inspire us, and demonstrate the strength and commitment of our movement. --- MODEL ACTION Find the busiest place in your city and disrupt! It could be a shopping mall, a public space, a festival, or any other location where a large number of people are gathered. More details coming soon! We are highly encouraging each region to plan a community event (potluck, meetup, sanctuary trip, etc...) in addition to the action. Use this opportunity to create stronger bonds with the activists in your region! --- THE CAMPAIGN DxE’s organizers around the world build empowered networks for animal liberation. Based on the most innovative scholarship on social change and the recent successes of the animal rights movement in countries around the world, DxE’s model focuses on building the kindling for a true social movement to be set ablaze. We do this by: (1) supporting activists locally in speaking strongly for animals under our organizing principles (http://directactioneverywhere.com/organizing-principles/); and (2) connecting those activists with others worldwide to create empowered networks for change. Animal rights activists in over 134 cities and 27 countries have united under the banner "It's not Food. It's Violence" since our campaign started in October 2013. But we need your help to keep up the momentum. Join us this month as we demand an end to atrocities against innocent animals.
