One million voices for the law of ecocide

End Ecocide in Europe is a grass-roots initiative aimed at protecting ecosystems by making their destruction a crime for which those responsible can be held accountable. This crime has a name: Ecocide. Watch the animation and vote today to end ecocide.

The law of ecocide has the potential to trigger the transformation to a sustainable low-carbon world as most of the major causes of emissions (deep sea drilling, fracking, oil spills, open coal mining, large-scale deforestation, etc) potentially cause ecocide and could become illegal when the initiative is successful.

The EU has the power to introduce such a law and when at least 1 million EU citizens support the proposal, EU policy-makers will be legally obliged to consider it. Vote online, spread the word, and get involved. Every vote counts.

What To Do

End Ecocide in Europe is launching a brand new video competition for a short video, with a prize of €500 going to the winner and 4 prizes of €100 going to 4 runners-up. The video should encourage viewers to vote for the initiative at

It should be short (absolute maximum 2 minutes) and contain a call to vote for the law of ecocide Anything else is up to the artist.

Existing videos of the initiative can be found here.

Deadline for submissions is January 5th and the winners will be announced by December 9th. The deadline for the signature collection is January 21st, 2014.
