Fortunately, there are lots of documentary sites out there now that are spreading information like this to a wider audience, but Films For Action sets itself apart with its dedication to combining this activist-focused library of information with independent news, a Take Action section, and our on-the-ground city chapters, which use film as part of a larger strategy to organize, build local independent media alternatives, and support the movements working for change.

Films For Action is a tool to help raise awareness - to connect the dots, to challenge ourselves and others, to inspire action, and to reach a greater understanding of the world and how we can change it for the better.

To succeed, we must all become media activists. With social networks reaching over 600 million people and growing, each one of us has the power to become the media by  regularly sharing content on Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon, Reddit, Digg and all the rest. When we reach out to our networks, and they reach out totheir networks, we have the potential to reach hundreds of millions of people, dwarfing the influence of the old media giants and shaping the media paradigm of the future.
