Committee Against Police Brutality is hosting Black History Movie Night, Every Friday in February at Headquarters Cafe 6-8pm FEB 1st. THE ROSA PARKS STORY- The story of the civil rights heroine whose refusal to obey racial bus segregation was just one of her acts in her fight for justice. FEB 8th. BLACK AUGUST- Black August traces Jackson’s spiritual journey and violent fate, from sentenced for robbing a gas station, to galvanizing the Black Guerrilla Family to the fierce August day when his younger brother Jonathan shocked the world by taking a California courtroom hostage to protest Jackson’s upcoming trial. FEB 15th. THE JENA SIX- the story of hidden racial inequality and violence becoming visible. It is a powerful symbol for, and example of, how racial justice works in America – where the lynching noose has been replaced by the DA’s pen. FEB 22nd. THE MURDER OF FRED HAMPTON- Fred Hampton was the leader of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party. This film depicts his brutal murder by the Chicago police and its subsequent investigation, but also documents his activities in organizing the Chapter, his public speeches, and the programs he founded for children during the last eighteen months of his life. $5 Donation Suggested, No one will be turned away.
