In celebration and exploration of all things green, two bicyclists are on a year-long journey around the United States to share what they've learned about sustainable communities. They’ve traveled more than 6,000 miles to visit and film 100 sustainable communities of all types, working to capture in film the abundance of community-oriented solutions out there that are already working. "Within Reach" is result of their effort, a feature-length documentary coming to grass-roots film screenings in 2012.

Presented by For Goodness Sake, Connecting the Good, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of N. Nevada (Reno), Films for Action, Buy Local Reno Sparks Business Co-Op and Green Business Chamber, Local Food Network, Great Basin Community Food Co-op, Artemesia, Sunrise Sustainable Resources Group, River School Farm, Edible Reno-Tahoe Magazine, University of Earth, Be the Change, Urban Roots Garden Classroom and Farm

PRESS RELEASE

JOURNEY TO FIND SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY
USA, December, 2012: In 2008, Ryan Mlynarczyk and Mandy Creighton set out from the San Francisco Bay Area on their bicycles, after giving up their house, jobs and cars, in search of a sustainable life. WITHIN REACH MOVIE explores their pedal-powered search for a place to call home in a sustainable community.

They were not searching for property in the right neighborhood. They were on a quest for community - the secret ingredient to a sustainable life. Along the way, they explored Ecovillages, Cohousing Communities, Co-op Houses, Communes, Transition Towns and their own principles and commitment. In the end they returned to the timeless truth that community is everywhere and we can create sustainable community right where we’re at.

Their journey and film has answered questions that they and many others are asking: How can we pass along a lush, beautiful, sustainable world to future generations? Is it even possible? And why is it our responsibility as global citizens? After circling the country and interviewing hundreds of Americans, they have found that by reaching within sustainable community is Within Reach. In fact, it’s already here.

The film has been released worldwide, showing at film festivals, community screenings such as ours in Reno, NV, on Dec 13, 2012, and Truckee, CA, Dec 14, 2012. online rentals also available.
