Frack! tells the story of the unconventional gas-drilling ("fracking") frenzy sweeping the Marcellus region, including the Catskills and Upper Delaware River watershed, threatening pristine areas which provide clean drinking water for over 15 million people.  Without a massive public outcry, once idyllic rural landscapes could become toxic industrial wastelands, and New York State a gas extraction colony.

About the director...
David is a filmmaker who has worked on documentaries overseas in Africa and Asia for the BBC, directed a health-care doc for PBS, and has produced and directed several narrative ( L.A. film festival award winner Reel to Real) and documentary short films, including one on the health of rivers and streams in the Catskills, produced in 2008.  He is co-founder of DTVMusic, which provides non-commercial music-video channels for hospitals, including the VA, and is co-founder of low-power radio stations in the northeast, including WXGR-FM. One of the favorite arguments against alternative energy is that it isn’t available all the time. The sun goes down. The wind stops blowing. Gotta have that oil! Gotta have that natural gas! If there are accidents due to drilling or fracking, well, that’s just the price we’ve got to pay. Not so fast. German researchers have come up with a strategy to combine the output...

How much energy does a town consume? Brian Corzilius sleuthed that out for Willits, California, and got a big surprise: in this community of 13,000 people, nearly 25% of personal after-tax earnings (about $30 million annually) leaves town to pay for energy - gasoline, diesel, electricity and natural gas. His inventory grew into an energy independence report which identified opportunities for...
