Film Screening Wednesday October 28th: RETHINK Afghanistan

By Films For Action / filmsforaction.org

Liberty Hall. 644 Massachusetts St. Lawrence, KS - Only $3. 7PM.

We must rethink our policy toward Afghanistan. Help raise public visibility of this issue in Lawrence by attending this event and getting as many people you know to attend as well.

If you already consider yourself firmly anti-war and are thinking about skimping out on this film, hold on! Even the most die-hard geo-political savvy folks will learn something they didn't know from this film. If you're new to the debate it will be a great crash course for what we've been doing over there for the last *eight* years and whether the official reason for this war stands up to logical scrutiny. If you've been staying current with the issue, it will be a great chance to get freshened up on all the different issues so you can advocate your position more persuasively.

I realize most of us probably don't need any more convincing that the war should be brought to an end, so look at this film as an opportunity to raise awareness of the issue beyond the choir. We need to expand our numbers, and build a consensus across political lines.

The event has been organized. The date's been confirmed. But for this event to be a success, we need your help!

A few ways to start:

*Invite all your Lawrence/local friends to this event on Facebook.
*Forward this info to local activist newsletters you're a member of and see if they can include an announcement about it in one of their group emails.
*Post info about the event on Twitter, your blog, social media page, group newsletter etc.
*Chalk "Rethink Afghanistan - FilmsForAction.org" on sidewalks downtown and on campus. Side-walk chalk is cheap and it's fun!
*Hand out some flyers at/after events, downtown or on campus (get in touch and we'll get you some).
*Send out text messages to friends the day before or day of to remind them about the event.
*Write a letter to the editor of our local newspapers (either before or after)
*Think of other creative ways you can get people who wouldn't ordinarily attend to show up.
*Word of mouth from friends is ten times more effective than any flyer that can be seen inside a storefront bulletin board. Get talking!
(at work, at school, at church, at shows, at your friends house, downtown, at parties, in public bathrooms, in the bedroom, you name it!)

Let's reach people beyond the choir!

Imagine when there are 5,000 people in Lawrence all plugging into alternative media, learning about what they're not finding out about from the mainstream media, and getting siked up to make some change happen! Big numbers are the key to great changes, and information activism is the spark that will ignite a sea-change in the status quo. You plant good seeds and just wait to see what will grow! Get excited!

Facebook Users:
If you want to help Films For Action further, and want to see all the films on our site reach millions of more minds starved for quality information, encourage all of your friends to become a fan of our Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/filmsforaction using the "Suggest to Friends" link found on the left hand side of the page.

Since our page is geared to an international audience, everyone you're friends with, whether they live in Kansas or Denmark will hopefully be glad you passed the link on.

And of course, if you have a minute to encourage 15 or so (or all) of your good friends to invite all of THEIR friends, and they do the same, well then by Friday of next month half the country will be absorbing radical-progressive knowledge and starting to think about root-cause solutions that will be able to get this whole civilizational mess under control.

Spreading awareness is the name of the game after all, and there's still so much work to do just in this area alone. We can't underestimate the impact of simply providing alternative means to stay informed on issues. If enough people started regularly getting informed through indy media like Films For Action, the insane cancer that has infected about a third or more of the country (caused by the disinformation and propaganda of the corporate, mainstream news) might begin to heal.

As they say, the cure for insanity is a little dose of anti-insanity!

Cheers, and thanks for your support! Let's do this!
