\"As I developed more confidence in my gardening, growing food moved from being a hobby to a delicious act of self-reliance. There was even a hint of rebellion mixed in, as I reacted to the corporate dominance of what was a largely organic and “open-source” food system of just a few generations ago.\" -Jennifer Cockrall-King (author of Food and the City: Urban Agriculture and the New Food Revolution )
One of the most important aims of Su2 is to create a place where each of us can help each other find encouragement and gain confidence in our personal efforts toward sustainability. For many of us the root of our activism is learning to grow food.
This Sunday, we get back to the roots. We have the benevolent urban farming legend Zane Long of Urban Growth KC conducting a little garden workshop that will b l o w - y o u r - m i n d . Afterward, we will harvest his brain and eat it, Q&A style.
We will have mountains of delicious vegetarian food so bring an appetite and the more the merrier, so bring a friend, and if you can, bring a dish.
The main entree will be Three Pea Cashew Stir Fry burnt to a crisp.
This is a non-alcoholic event.
Anyone of any age is welcome.
We look forward to seeing you all. My heart bursts just thinking about it.
