Alto respaldo a la nueva ley del tabaco: 83,1% encuentra agradable estar en lugares sin humo

SANTIAGO.- Las normas establecidas en la Nueva Ley del Tabaco, que entraron en vigencia en marzo de 2013, tienen un alto respaldo en la población adulta que fuma y también en la que no lo hace.

 

Así lo reveló la segunda encuesta realizada por la fundación Chile Libre de Tabaco, que mide la percepción ciudadana de las leyes que buscan desincentivar el consumo de cigarrillos.

El sondeo arrojó que un 83,1% considera que "es agradable estar en lugares sin humo de tabaco", siendo esta prevalencia significativamente mayor en el grupo que no fuma cigarrillos, entre quienes alcanza el 90%.  Esta opinión aumenta en el segmento etáreo entre 30 y 39 años, con un 93%.

A nivel global, el nivel de respaldo de la ley alcanza el 73,9%, el que aumenta significativamente en el grupo que no fuma cigarrillos, con un 87%; mientras que en los fumadores el apoyo alcanza el 60%.

En tanto, un 62% está "de acuerdo o muy de acuerdo" con que las nuevas normativas protejan a los trabajadores de bares, pubs, restaurantes, casinos de juego y discotecas; prevalencia que resulta mayor en el grupo de 18 a 29 años, con un 77%.

 

A su vez, un 75,9% respalda que se haya prohibido fumar en restaurantes y casinos, mientras que en el grupo que no fuma, el apoyo sube al 85,6%.

Sin embargo, este respaldo baja significativamente en el segmento joven de la población. El 45% de los menores de 30 años está en desacuerdo con que no se pueda fumar en lugares de consumo de comida. 

Con respecto a la prohibición de fumar en recintos deportivos y estadios, el apoyo es de un 71,6% de los encuestados, siendo significativamente mayor en el grupo de no fumadores, en que alcanza el 82,8%. En el grupo de fumadores se registra un 59,4% de respaldo.
