In november presenteert De Schipperskapel een dubbelexpo met bijhorend dubbelcatazine over Franky De Schampheleer en Dieter Debruyne.

Waarom? Jelle Van Hulle schreef er het volgende over:

Het werk van Franky ligt in de Belgische traditie van het surrealisme. Net zoals een voorstelling uit een schilderij van René Magritte krijg je een vrolijk absurdisme dat ons, de toeschouwer, laat genieten van een schijnbaar onmogelijk tafereel, een toneel. De schilder heeft het voordeel dat zijn geest onbeperkt is in het creëeren van het surreeele, de fotograaf het nadeel dat hij op zoek moet gaan in de werkelijkheid naar het boven-werkelijke.

Het vrolijke absurdisme van Franky verstilt in het werk van Dieter. De absurditeit blijft nazinderen, maar het vrolijke ruimt plaats voor een kille eenzaamheid. Deze wordt vaak verborgen door goedkope maskers zoals een iets te opzichtig schilderij, een reeks omgedraaide koffietasjes, …
Een lege werkelijkheid, de keerzijde van de realiteit zoals we hem kennen. Het zijn de ruimtes die ontrokken zijn van beweging. Ze zijn stilgevallen en ontmaskeren een systeeem van kamers. Het is een deurenkomedie waarvan de acteurs zijn weggevallen.

Franky en Dieter staan allebei in de realiteit, maar hebben – zoals alle getalenteerde kunstenaars – een sleutel tot een deur waarmee ze frontstage en backstage van deze scene geraken. Franky fotografeert de scene vanop de eerste rij, in de beste omstandigheden, Dieter toont de constructie van het podium vanuit de backstage. Het is aan de toeschouwer om te kiezen wat ze het liefste willen geloven: het mooie toneel, of de gammele decors…
