5 Great Ways to Expand Your World When Traveling

Take them as inspiration, accept them as challenges or follow them as rules. Just remember that the world is open to those with an open mind.

1. LOWER YOUR GUARD

Travelling is about exposing yourself to something else, something different. Open your mind and put a leash on your judgement. It’s not our differences that divide us. It’s our inability to recognise, accept and get the best out of those differences. And remember: you are just as different to others as they are to you.

2. DO TALK TO STRANGERS

– not only the staff at your hotel. A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet. A quick question might turn into an inspirational conversation. Before you know it, you’ll be adding a local to your friend list.

3. SAY YES!

Travelling is not just about destinations – it’s about what happens along the way. Yes is the magic word to new experiences. Yes, I’m lost. Yes, I’d love to dance. Yes, there’s room at this table. Yes, let’s go skinny dipping. Start saying yes today, not only when travelling but also in everyday life. See how much a little word can make a difference.

4. STAY CURIOUS

Have the courage to do something for the first time. Travelling is about crossing borders, including the ones you have put up for yourself. Curiosity is the compass that leads to an open-minded view of the world. Challenge yourself and fight the urge to rely on the routine. Do the opposite of the obvious and let your curiosity lead you to new experiences.

5. CARE TO SHARE

Facing the world with an open mind makes you a source of inspiration to others. Let friends and family see the beauty and friendliness of the world through your eyes. Attitudes are contagious. Let yours spread across the world, and encourage others to be open-minded so we can all enjoy a better, more diversified world.
