EARTHLINGS is a feature length documentary about humanity's absolute dependence on animals (for pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and scientific research) but also illustrates our complete disrespect for these so-called "non-human providers." The film is narrated by Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix (GLADIATOR) and features music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby. Heads up: contains some graphic imagery of the day-today reality for many animals. Just watch the first 20 minutes if you can't handle the rest.

My heart just broke watching this. I do Not condone this eventhough I am human and do eat meat. This harsh reality has just set in to make me think about what it is That I As One Person, needs to do because I am of man kind and I want to help this world. There aren't really any words in any such a way to describe the way this hour and a half documentary made me feel. I wonder if more people were to take the time out in there busy day or night just to even watch a small part of this. It isn't just about animals. It is about us too, the way we have treated other human beings in past lives, and the way that it seems to be okay to treat animals the way we would never want to be treated. I have a very many points right now that I want to share with parts of the world that have no clue but I actually know that as of right now this is going to have to do, Because I have very strong emotions and feeling running through my body at this moment that I might become more angry then eventful. I am ashamed of us.

This movie helped me make the move to vegetarianism. It's hard to watch, but very powerful.

Most of the people who work in slaughterhouses are illegal aliens, mostly from Mexico or Central America. They come from a culture where bullfighting is common. The bullfight pictures don't show what happens when a bull gores the horses the picadors ride. They're broken-down, old horses, and for good reason, when they get gored, they die, the horns rip their guts out. Likewise, the Pamplona corrida de toros pics don't show spectators getting gored, or gored and thrown by the bull. Every year a couple of people run low on luck and die that way. It's not that they have no soul, it's their culture, and it's a bloody, violent culture that really has no parallel in the USA - except in the slaughterhouses.

Well, he does sound as if he is rushing through with little emotion. I guess if it's for free, then you can't get that ?
